High-Performance Coating Solutions

  • Exterior protection

When industrial assets are exposed to the harshest conditions, Tnemec’s external coating systems provide the robust protection needed to maintain their integrity. Designed to withstand site-specific challenges of weatherability, chemical exposure, mechanical stresses and abrasion, these coatings ensure that your assets remain resilient over time. In addition to meeting exterior service requirements, Tnemec can offer extended service life and lower maintenance costs by addressing surface tolerant needs such as marginally prepared substrates and low-risk/high-reward solutions for overcoating.

Tnemec’s commitment to quality is demonstrated through rigorous testing, including compliance with ISO-12944 standards. Many of our systems have successfully passed ISO-12944 C5 Very High (C5 VH) classification, indicating their ability to protect steel structures in the highest on-shore category of corrosive environments.

Tnemec dry-fall or “spray-safe” coating technologies dramatically increase production rates compared to brush and roll applications and eliminate the need for containment when compared to standard spray applications, making them an ideal solution for large or complex structures.

  • Advanced Lining protection

Vessels holding hazardous materials require high-performance lining to protect the structure and its contents. Fighting corrosion from the inside out, Tnemec’s thick-film Tank Armour Lining technology is specially formulated as an interior coating for storage tanks in the oil and gas industry. The extra-durable epoxy linings provide chemical- and abrasion-resistance in the most challenging operating conditions.

Tank Armour’s 100 percent solids formulations allow a significant advantage for storage tank owners by providing a single-coat, quick-cure application process for rapid return to service with their high-build application characteristics and the ability to retain thickness over welds, seams and angles. Tank Armour is VOC-compliant and conforms to API 652.

To achieve the same barrier protection as Tank Armour, traditional linings must be applied in multiple coats adding labour costs and many extra days of costly downtime.

Tnemec’s thin-film Tneme-Liner, is a high-solids, cycloaliphatic amine-cured epoxy lining that meets and exceeds the performance of novolac epoxies in many chemical exposures. The selected cycloaliphatic curing agent in Tneme-Liner, reacted with the functionality of the epoxy, yields a tightly cross-linked bond resulting in outstanding chemical and corrosion resistance. This curing mechanism allows Tneme-Liner to resist a wide range of chemicals, sweet and sour crude oil, and finished fuels and solvents. Applications include refining, chemical processing, industrial waste treatment, secondary containment, pipeline production and process equipment, vessels and spool sections, and other severe service conditions. Tneme-Liner can also be used as a holding primer for large storage tanks when topcoating with select Tank Armour linings. Additionally, the linings meet the performance criteria requirements for MIL-PRF-4456F, a military specification for epoxy coating systems used to line jet fuel storage vessels.

Whether for storing and transporting fuel, or for chemical processing, Interior linings prevent early deterioration and downtime. Specially formulated thin-film and thick-film (100% solids) linings are applied using conventional airless spray or plural component equipment.

  • Floating roofs

Floating roofs are complex structures and take into account many variables, including type of product stored, product temperature, flexing and typical weather/environmental conditions.

Tnemec offers immersion-grade, low-yellowing epoxies for the exterior of floating roofs. A typical coating system includes an aromatic zinc-rich urethane primer and a chemical resistant, high-build epoxy topcoat. This combination provides superior steel protection and a longer life expectancy thanks to the primer’s zinc protection combined with the low erosion and low chalk rate of the high-density, cross-linked epoxy topcoat.

  • Aerogel-based Thermal Insulation Coating

In industrial environments where energy efficiency, safety, and corrosion protection are paramount, Tnemec’s line of insulative coatings, featuring Aerolon technologies, provides essential solutions in service areas where traditional insulation and cladding are difficult to maintain or tend to fail.

Our Aerolon thermal insulation coating systems address a variety of critical needs, including energy retention, condensation control, personnel protection, and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) prevention, delivering reliable performance across a range of applications throughout its service life.

A fluid-applied, single-component, easy-to-install solution which can be used used in new contstruction and maintenance, providing an alternative to conventional thermal insulation & jacketing in both cold and heated service, of up to 163 degrees Celsius, where CUI risks are most prevalent.

  • Buried Services - Unbeatable abrasion resistantance underground infrastructure

When it comes to protecting buried pipe and valves, pilings, or below-grade storage tanks, Tnemec’s coating solutions for buried services provide essential defense against the unique challenges posed by underground environments. These coatings are engineered to withstand the highest degree of abrasion, erosion, and effects of wet or corrosive soils. Our coatings ensure that buried assets remain protected and intact over time.

Utilizing modified and reinforced epoxies, coal tar, and hybrid technologies, Tnemec offers solutions for shop and field applications including specialized kits for field joint and weld repairs.

  • Versatile coatings for maintenance and overcoating

Limiting downtime and helping reduce labour and surface preparation costs, Tnemec’s surface-tolerant epoxy coatings allow projects to continue even when coating conditions are not perfect. These products are formulated for overcoating and adhering to the substrate when ideal surface preparation is not achievable.
